When it comes to summers, this season can prove to be truly monstrous for the men who want to look trendy and smart without going over the board. However, the choices are quite limited and it’s hard to maintain the same stylish looks that you can sport in the lower temperatures.

Summer is usually associated with a preppy look but it really doesn’t have to be only trend monopolizing the summer fashion. You have the right to carry a look whether it is edgy, athletic, rugged, or anything in between. So, this summer, step up your game of fashion and trends and wear something that is both comfortable and stylish.

The Shorts

Shorts are always in. This summer it is the chino shorts that have stolen the limelight with something bold and trendy touches. Play with a variety of colors when it comes to chino shorts. There is nothing wrong in having a pair of khaki shorts in your wardrobe but 2018 is all about being bold and not playing safe. Black and navy are equally essential and if you can dare, wear some bright colors too.

Be adventurous and try to work them into your social attire. Avoid overly baggy and long choices generally with all shorts.

When we are talking about being adventurous and bold, why not hit the controversial denim shorts. You don’t need to get caught in the John Cena type look but if you must wear them, then make sure you have a well fitting pair of cutoffs. For length, don’t go overboard in either direction, and most importantly, don’t think they go with every outfit. Jorts are a casual look that can be matched up with a good shirt, but you can’t hit your boss’s barbeque in these casuals.

The Shirts

The motto for summer shirts – keep it light.

Invest in some t-shirts with a little more substance and avoid the graphic tees. The best bet is the striped tee that fits the bill perfectly. If you are looking for something with a little class, you have three options: polos, long sleeve button ups, and short sleeve button ups.

As for polos, they work well with chino shorts, but you will be infringing on preppy, which is not really a bad thing. If that style works for you, go for an understated look with neutral colors, a tailored fit, and a pair of jeans.

Go for light weight linen for long sleeves in button-ups. Plain light colored shirts always work well, but including some patterns is not a bad idea either. Plain colors are staples for a reason, but don’t get tedious.

The same is the case with short sleeves. Summers are all about light weight and softer, breezy fabrics like linen. Patterned short sleeves are very much a craze right now, so get creative. However keep away bowling shirts and Hawaiian shirts. You can wear floral but avoid Hawaiian.

The Pants

Pants in summers! Sounds crazy, right? When the temperature rise to 80 degrees, you can think of nothing else but shorts – they are not acceptable, this apparel is in fact expected. Still, sometime in July, a pair of jeans may find way in your wardrobe.

Like the shirts, the light color rule applies to the pants as well. To beat the heat, go for and experiment with a spectrum of light colors but dark colors like indigo and blue are a complete no-no. However, those who aren’t bold enough to experiment with lighter hues, black works just fine. Black jeans – although dark never go out of fashion.

The pants that are ideal for the hot summer months are the chinos. These pants in light weight material are just the thing for warmer weather. Experiment with a palette of lighter hues like olive, gray, blue, and pretty much anything non-florescent. Wear them but don’t get stuck with khakis.

The Shoes

Clothing choices may be limited in summers for men but the footwear has a wide variety to choose from. As far as the colors are concerned, white is always in. Go for exclusive summer shoes like vans or boat shoes that go with just about anything.

Sneakers are also a good choice and no need to be boring with them. Although black and white are the go-to colors, a sleek pair in some easy colors can add a pop to your outfit when done right.

With socks keep them hidden or short – no longer than mid calf. Blacks and whites are trends for the summer.

With accessories, keep it simple and practical. Sun-glasses are of course the most important accessory for summers so don’t be frugal and invest in a good quality pair that compliments your face cut.

When it comes to summer fashion, don’t be on pins and needles. Keep it lightweight and efficient, but don’t forfeit aesthetic. It’s the perfect time to experiment, because many of your peers may be lazy enough not to do it. Hit Summers in style.
